Marina Cay
A
very picturesque anchorage between Great Camanoe and Scrub Island. It is also the
location for Robb White's Our Virgin Island, a novel about making a home on this
tiny piece of land. Remnants of the house descirbed in this novel are still
standing.
Our first night, we moored at Marina Cay and we
all liked it very much. It was a short sail from Fat Hogs Bay (the Tradewind base), so we
got plenty of time to look around the island. It was an extremely hot and humid day, I
remember, and theres a Pussers store on the island with air conditioning. Believe
me, I took my time looking at their wares. Theres also a dive shop on the
island, so we rented 4 tanks for the week, and took them back to the yacht with us. The
reef on the southwest side of the island offers excellent snorkeling, and we must have
spent an hour trying to take it all in. Although we didnt eat at the restaurant, it
looked like a wonderful place to have a light lunch or an afternoon drink. All in all,
its a nice anchorage, and one I would visit again.
